SFMOMA
About my new exhibition in San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary
art in the United States and a thriving cultural center for the Bay Area.
The remarkable collection of painting, sculpture,
photography, architecture, design, and media arts, is housed in an LEED Gold-certified building designed by the global architects
Snohetta and Mario Botta. In addition to our seven gallery floors, SFMOMA offers 45,000 square feet of free, art-filled public
space open to all.
What an interesting opportunity for others to see my work on this special piece dedicated to sports at one of the most important
museums in the world, and it’s close to home.
Sports are part of the inspiration for physical and mental growth, with their
important disciplines that aim for excellence. It is my pleasure to share more contemporary art related to this theme.Does your
love for a Bay Area sports team overlap with your personal art practice. In conjunction with the upcoming exhibition
Get in the Game, SFMOMA seeks fan-made artworks that reflect on, reimagine, and celebrate the people and culture of Bay
Area sports.
These are some of the magical moments I cherish. My brother used to have his birthday in the same month as mine. One
weekend would be his birthday, and the next would be mine. Sometimes, or most of the time, my mom would combine our
celebrations, dressing us in similar colors, so people thought we were twins, even though we were two years apart. We used to
play sports or spend Sundays doing outdoor activities, always with family and, if possible, some friends, but it was really about
family Sundays. That’s how close my brother and I were.
My husband shared with me that they are looking for contemporary
artists to exhibit pieces related to sports—what a wonderful month! That’s why I wanted to share a bit about my process, filled
with so many positive emotions in August. Great memories, more international exhibitions like the upcoming one in Monaco, and
now at SFMOMA.
The celebrations are just beginning. It’s always a pleasure to share the latest details of my exhibitions with you,
and there’s more to come!
